What happens when a WordPress site is hacked
Most hacked WordPress sites are broken into through an outdated plugin, a weak password or a nulled theme. Attackers add hidden files, spam pages or redirects, and often leave a backdoor to get back in.
Deleting the obvious spam isn't enough. I remove the malware and backdoors, find the hole they used, close it, and harden the site so it's much harder to break into again.
